Office Christmas Party Ideas

You may find it unbelievable but the office Christmas party is often viewed as one big bore. Many people actually prefer not to turn up if possible. It’s time to change all that. With some creativity, you can come up with great office Christmas party ideas that can make your staff talk about for months to come.

Decide On The Theme
First and foremost, Christmas parties do not have to stick to holiday-type themes. You can easily find a number of party themes that can suit your company without the drab traditional one. Some party theme ideas include:
- Hollywood
- Retro- 60s, 70s or 80s
- Futuristic Fantasy
- Indoor Sports Party

If coming up of a theme is difficult for you, you can let your staff do it. Empowering your staff to choose can help shove up attendance and ensure that more of them will have a great time.

Spice Up The Fun
Add a roaming photographer to your party. This photograher can then compile the guest photos with funny captions into a slideshow. This can add fun and life to the party. Throw in various activities, games and contest always add to party fun. Here are some ideas for party games.

Party Games
Depending on the size of your company, if the turnout is expected to be small, go for group games to keep the party going. Most of you will agree that games are the live wires to any celebration. Try some of these holiday games:

Christmas Gift Exchange- Each guest will bring a gift to exchange. In each table, each guest will take turns to draw a number. The one who has the smallest number will get to choose and open one of the gifts. Player number 2 will then have the option of "stealing" that gift or selecting and opening another gift. As the play goes on, players who have the higher numbers will be able to select from any of the opened gifts or a new gift. This games can be great fun if your guests are great sports.

Scavenger Hunt- Hide a series of Christmas-themed items around the room. Prepare a list of clues to help your guests search for these items. Guests must crack the clue before looking for the item. The first group to find all of the items on the list wins. This is a great game for departments to work together.

Christmas Carol Game- Sit the players in a circle and begin by having the first person sing the first line of a popular Christmas carol. The second player has to sing the next line of the song. This will continue until someone could not complete the next line. That person is then "thrown out" and players can start over with a new song. Be prepared with the actual song lyric just in case a question arise over the right words used in the songs.

Conclusion
There are hundreds of great office Christmas party ideas with activities and events that follow the theme perfectly to keep the party going. You are limited only by your own imagination. However, if you find this a chore, you can always engage party planners who are experienced in helping you choose a party theme appropriate for your office colleagues. Not only that, they can help plan and coordinate the party activities, food and other stuff that we usually overlook in party preparations.

Office Party Tip #1

Depending on the theme of the party, you need to dress suitably. While you do not have to wear a suit and tie, you should not dress down or too casually. Torn jeans and sneakers may not be appropriate. When in doubt, ask.

Office Party Tip #2

Tell jokes that are entertaining but not rude. When in doubt, don't. Often when people think they are entertaining, they are not. Remember that what seems funny to one person can be offensive to someone else.

Office Party Tip #3

Show Appreciation. Nothing is better than a simple thank you to the party organizers. You can truly make their day by showing that you appreciate their efforts and time in organizing the party for your office.
